How can we encourage clients to practise between appointments? How can we help clients and the people close to them use a new assistive aid more actively? Both require a change in behaviour from the client and their support network. Health and sports psychology have extensively researched the kinds of guidance that support behaviour change and encourage motivation to change. These findings can be applied to many types of guidance. In this training, we explore the factors that influence behaviour change and how to use them when supporting clients. You will also learn about motivating interactions and the role of an action plan in developing and maintaining motivation.
