Examples of our work

Choir singing app

From 2017 to 2020, Outloud took part in Laulun sanoin, kuorolaulu afasian kuntoutuksessa, a research project on choir singing in aphasia rehabilitation run by the Cognitive Brain Research Unit at the University of Helsinki’s Faculty of Medicine. The project investigated the effectiveness of singing-based rehabilitation for people with aphasia.

For the project, Outloud developed a singing practice app for people with aphasia in collaboration with Helsinki University Central Hospital, Afasia- ja aivohalvausyhdistys and Aivoliitto. The app enabled people taking part in choir practice to practise singing at home. It records singing, analyses acoustic features such as pitch, rhythm and intensity, and provides feedback to encourage practice.

Previous collaboration with the researchers, together with Outloud’s expertise in developing voice-controlled games, audio analysis apps and sound libraries, makes Outloud an excellent partner for the project.

Kuulorata

Kuulorata is an example of an app developed to a client’s brief.

Kuulorata is an app for auditory training. You can try speech exercises, music exercises and games at different levels of difficulty. There are plenty of exercises, and the app randomly generates new content for them. You can keep practising and improve on your previous results.
